Salma Hayek and Ryan Reynolds team up to save Samuel L. Jackson in the new trailer for The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard.
A sequel to the 2017 action-comedy The Hitman's Bodyguard, the film is currently slated for a June 16 release and will see Antonio Banderas join the cast as the film's villain. Reynolds plays the titular bodyguard and security expert, Michael Bryce, while Jackson is Darius Kincaid, husband to Hayek's Sonia Kincaid. The original 2017 film was a modest hit, earning $176 million at the box office and a sequel was planned for release in 2020.
COVID forced The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard to be delayed, but Reynolds and Jackson are set to reunite on screen soon. Initially, the film was delayed nearly a year from its August 2020 date to August 2021. Studio's growing confidence in vaccine rollout and box office potential prompted Lionsgate to push The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard up to June 16, a prime summer slot for what could potentially be a box office hit.
