HBO Max releases an official trailer for the new comedy Superintelligence, starring Melissa McCarthy and James Corden, weeks before its premiere.
HBO Max released the trailer for Superintelligence starring Melissa McCarthy and James Corden. The sci-fi comedy written by Steve Mallory and directed by Ben Falcone was initially slated to premiere in movie theaters in December 2019. However, the film changed course once HBO acquired it for its streaming platform HBO Max. The film was then intended to be apart of HBO Max's launch collection in April 2020. However, the film's premiere was postponed once again to November 26.
HBO Max debuted Superintelligence's trailer almost two weeks before the film's streaming premiere. The trailer shows that McCarthy's character is a very average woman who is suddenly burdened with the task of proving that human life form is worth saving. While the central theme of the film is very existential, the trailer proves that the film is packed with comedic moments. Viewers also get a glimpse at McCarthy and Corden's witty banter.
The film also stars Bobby Cannavale, Brian Tyree Henry and Jean Smart. Cannavale plays McCarthy's love interest. As if the film wasn't tackling enough genre, the trailer shows some aspects of a rom-com as McCarthy's character pursues Cannavale's character, George. Smart plays the president of the United States and Henry plays an important scientist who are tasked with helping McCarthy's character save humanity.
