Spider-Man 3 star Tom Holland shares his excitement at arriving in Atlanta to begin work on the film. Production is ramping on the Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel, which will see Jon Watts returning to the director’s chair, as Holland’s stunt double recently indicated in an online post.

Spider-Man 3 will also see the return of the popular supporting cast from the previous two movies, including Jacob Batalon and Marisa Tomei, but the film recently drew waves of speculation after reports that Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange would be appearing as well. Their inclusion could have massive implications for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. On the other hand, their involvement could amount to brief cameos. Fans are divided as to which approach would be better. Given that Holland has now arrived in Atlanta, where Spider-Man 3 will primarily be filmed, more information could soon be revealed about the plot.

Holland posted a video on his Instagram Story, (via Comic Book), which showed the actor arriving in Atlanta to begin shooting Spider-Man 3. Despite only recently finishing up his work as Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted adaptation and starting on the third installment of his Spider-Man franchise right after, Holland’s excitement about returning to the role of Peter Parker is obvious to see.

Under different circumstances, it’s likely that Holland would get to enjoy some time off before moving from one blockbuster to another. Given the uncertainties of filming during an ongoing pandemic, however, it’s understandable that finishing up principal photography as soon as possible would be considered a priority. While there’s no knowing for sure what the future of the MCU is going to look like if COVID-19 continues in its current trajectory, and whether some titles will have to be moved to Disney+ as a result, it would be much easier for Marvel to make those decisions on a case by case basis if all of their movies are already in the can. That’s doubly true for Spider-Man 3, which is one of the most highly-anticipated Phase 4 projects.

With the first glimpse of Spider-Man 3 set to arrive in December, fans might not have to wait long to see some of what the Watts feature will contain. The movie already had a fair amount of buzz surrounding it, given those unforgettable post-credit scenes in Far From Home, but the intrigue has only increased with the recent announcements involving Electro and Doctor Strange. Hopefully, just like the filming of Uncharted, Holland’s third solo outing as Peter Parker will go smoothly and won’t be hampered by any further delays. If everything goes according to plan, 2021 may prove to be a big year for the MCU.
