Pedro Pascal played The Mandalorian more in season 2 than he did in the first, a new profile reveals. Previously best known for playing Oberyn Martell on Game of Thrones, Pascal joined the Star Wars universe just last year as bounty hunter Din Djarin, the titular Mandalorian in the franchise's first live-action series. The Mandalorian follows Din as he travels the galaxy completing various jobs. When one of his targets ends up being a small child hailing from a mysterious species (which fans recognize as Yoda's), he ignores his duty and protects the child from those who aim to take him for their own nefarious purposes.

As is typical in Mandalorian culture, Din always wears his beskar helmet, which he cannot take off in the presence of other people. In The Mandalorian season 1, Din's face was only seen once in the finale, when the droid IG-11 (Taika Waititi) took it off to save his life. As a result, it was revealed that Pascal wasn't always the person wearing the Mandalorian armor on camera. While Pascal supplied the voice, stunt doubles would stand in for him when necessary. However, it sounds like that's changed a bit for season 2.

In a new profile with Variety, Pascal briefly touched upon having to hide his face for much of his performance. Pascal admitted that he would feel uneasy if "there were more than just a couple of pages of a one-on-one scene," but overall he didn't mind it. "When you’re dealing with a franchise as large as this, you are such a passenger to however they’re going to carve it out. It’s just so specific. It’s ‘Star Wars'," Pascal explained. However, it's noted that for The Mandalorian season 2, Pascal was on set a lot more than he was before, though many of the stunts were still performed by doubles.

This might come as a relief to those who have heard rumors of Pascal exiting The Mandalorian because he had to constantly wear the helmet. While it would be easy enough to have someone else don the armor and helmet in Pascal's place (clearly, as it has been done before), Pascal is very passionate about The Mandalorian and seems happy to have put in more time as Din this time around. His performance, despite rarely featuring his face, has been praised for its physicality; since the audience can't see his face, everything must be conveyed through his movements.

Whether Din will take off his mask again in The Mandalorian season 2 remains to be seen, but fans can still rest assured that for the majority of the time, it'll be Pascal beneath the mask. Anticipation for season 2 was already quite high, but this will just make the upcoming episodes even more exciting. The Mandalorian returns in just a few weeks, and fans are quite eager to see where Din and Baby Yoda go next.

The Mandalorian season 2 premieres on October 30 on Disney+.
