West Wing Reunion Cast Photo Confirms Production Has Begun

Bradley Whitford, one of the stars of The West Wing, has confirmed that production for the reunion special episode has begun. The West Wing originally premiered on NBC in 1999 and enjoyed a 7 season run before coming to an end in 2006. The series centered around the political tenure of fictional Democratic President Josiah Edward "Jed" Bartlet.

While The West Wing has concluded for well over a decade now, the cast recently announced that it would reunite to film a special episode. The episode is set to be a staging of "Hartsfield's Landing," one of The West Wing's most critically acclaimed episodes written by creator Aaron Sorkin. The reunion special will benefit the When We All Vote organization, which encourages all Americans to vote in upcoming elections, regardless of political affiliation.

Bradley Whitford, who played Josh Lyman on The West Wing, has posted an image on Twitter confirming that production for the special reunion episode is underway. The photo features him, Martin Sheen, and Dulé Hill in a trailer, presumably waiting for filming to begin. While both Whitford and Hill are wearing face shields, likely due to increased COVID-19 health precautions, Sheen is not. You can see Whitford's sweet #squadgoals post below:

Levy goes on to also say, "So, fingers crossed that we get a really good idea coming into our heads at some point. But I would love to work with these beautiful people again.” While the series finale wrapped up the main story of the show with a bow, some fans have lingering questions after season 6. Season 6 concluded with David marrying Patrick, who decide to stay in Schitt's Creek for their happily ever after, and the rest of the Rose family leaving the town to pursue their own adventures and dreams. While the Rose family had their respective arcs come to a close, a possible film may be able to explore some of Schitt's Creek's supporting characters in addition to bringing back the main cast.

The Canadian sitcom proved to be one of the most hilarious and endearing sitcoms ever made throughout its six-season run. The wonderful performances, writing, and overall consistency made the series a joy to watch as the Rose family slow changed for the better with each new season. The possibility of the series returning for a feature film is certainly enticing, but the way the show ended was wholly satisfying and unambiguous. However, fans are sure to be excited that Levy is open to reviving the vibrant characters that make Schitt's Creek such a delight.
