World Beyond Star Initially Refused To Watch Fear The Walking Dead

Actor Nico Tortorella, who will star in The Walking Dead: World Beyond, admits that he'd seen very few episodes of Fear the Walking Dead. Both series are part of the larger The Walking Dead franchise and focus on a post-apocalyptic society filled with zombies.

While World Beyond is still in the works, it already has fans excited for what's to come. World Beyond was announced back in 2018 and is written by The Walking Dead writer Matthew Negrete. The series will follow teenagers as they leave their community to venture into the dangerous, outside world in order to save one of their fathers. In addition, while World Beyond will be at least somewhat interconnected to the other shows in the franchise, the series will have an entirely new cast of characters.

CBR spoke to several The Walking Dead: World Beyond actors, and star Nico Tortorella, who will play Felix Carlucci, stated that he didn't watch much of Fear the Walking Dead at first. His reason, though, is a lighthearted one: Tortorella said he initially auditioned for Fear the Walking Dead but wasn't given the part. As a result, he decided not to watch the show, despite him and his wife being "diehard" fans of The Walking Dead.https://i0.wp.com/storage.waploaded.com/images/cb093bb86fb41e8363def3de5d4ec1a3.jpg

Now that Tortorella has landed the part of Felix Carlucci, though, his point of view seems to have shifted. More specifically, he admits that he's since watched at least a few episodes of Fear the Walking Dead, although he did so somewhat cautiously. While Tortorella says he wants a greater understanding of the universe that Felix Carlucci lives in, he doesn't want complete knowledge of the world, either, explaining that his character wouldn't know everything about the post-apocalyptic world. Whatever Tortorella's reasoning, it will be interesting to see how Felix Carlucci helps expand The Walking Dead universe further, as well as understand how his character fits into the central storyline for World Beyond, particularly as one of the older members of the cast.

Although World Beyond was supposed to premiere earlier this year, it suffered a series of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, with the original The Walking Dead series coming to an end, World Beyond feels like an exciting new start, in spite of any initial setbacks. With new faces, stories, and a potential zombie cure on the line, The Walking Dead: World Beyond is sure to be an unforgettable television event.
