What Tom Hardy Could Look Like As James Bond

A new James Bond fan poster imagines what Tom Hardy could look like in the iconic role of 007. The latest Bond film, No Time To Die, is gearing up for release in November. The latest entry in the franchise is Daniel Craig's fifth and final outing as the titular spy. One of the first films to be delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, the film is now set for a November 20th release. Much of the plot remains a mystery, with marketing emphasizing how this latest entry in the long-running franchise is set to change everything.

Ever since it was announced that No Time To Die would be Craig's final outing as Bond, speculation has run rampant as to who exactly will be taking over the role. Much of this speculation has revolved around whether or not the next person to overtake the role will be in line with previous iterations of the character, or if the series could break new ground by hiring a non-white actor or even feature a female James Bond. Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki in the MCU) are just a few names that have been mentioned, but some of the more popular choices include Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, and most recently, Tom Hardy.

In a new poster design from Bosslogic, the artist imagines what Tom Hardy would look like as Craig's successor. It's one of three fan posters shared, with the other two featuring Idris Elba and Henry Cavill. They emulate the more modern take that the Craig era promos have taken on, with a black and white palette and each actor holding a gun in typical 007 fashion. Both Cavill and Elba are dressed in the typical Bond tuxedo, while Hardy's features the actor in more casual clothing. Check out the images below:

While there has been no confirmation yet as to who will be playing the next Bond, as of yesterday reports began circulating that Hardy was in the final stages of talks to play the next iteration. That makes his poster particularly exciting as fans can begin to imagine just what his take on the spy could look like. It seems it could definitely fall in line with the grittier direction that Craig's era has taken. Despite these reports, though, nothing has been confirmed. However, Cavill has also been seen as the natural next pick, both by AI casting technology and additional fan posters.

Despite the fact that Hardy is an exciting prospect, many are hoping the series will decide to chart new territory. Hiring a person of color or a woman to play the next James Bond would be far more interesting than hiring another white man to play the role. This makes Idris Elba's poster particularly exciting considering the possibilities it represents. No Time To Die will feature the first black woman to play a 007, as Lashana Lynch plays a fellow MI6 agent, but still, it is high time the series centers a different type of actor in a lead role, not just in a supporting capacity.
