Loki Set Photo Indicates Marvel TV Show Filming Will Resume Soon

The arrival of a new set photo for Loki indicates filming will soon resume on the Marvel Disney+ TV show. Tom Hiddleston has spent a significant amount of time over the last decade playing the god of mischief in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although his time as Loki seemingly came to an end in Avengers: Infinity War, the events of Avengers: Endgame set up a brand new avenue for him to return. Hiddleston will star in Loki, playing a version of the character that exists in an alternate universe where he evaded capture by the Avengers following the Battle of New York in 2012.

Even with the amount of Loki material the MCU has already delivered, most Marvel fans are still excited by the idea of Hiddleston coming back to play a pre-redemption Loki. The Disney+ series was originally slated to be released in early 2021 and began filming at the beginning of the year, but that was before coronavirus shut it down. Filming on Loki has been paused since March and Marvel hasn't since commented on the status of the series or when production on it will resume. But, there's now evidence that filming may be picking back up soon.

Thanks to the Atlanta_Filming Instagram account, a new photo of sets being built for Loki has popped up online. Although the set photo itself isn't as exciting as the ones fans typically clamor for, the new image is confirmation that Marvel Studios is currently building sets for Loki in Atlanta, Georgia. It isn't clear what exactly they are building, but the new construction is the best sign yet that filming for Loki is going to resume soon.

Marvel's plan for Loki to get back to filming isn't terribly surprising considering they are currently working on wrapping up production on fellow Disney+ series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Various set photos and teases by the show's stars have made The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's filming resumption more public than the work Marvel is doing on Loki right now. In fact, it is possible that filming already resumed on Loki but we don't know about it because it is happening on studio lots and not in public places. But even if that isn't happening right now, Hiddleston should still be back playing Loki before too long.

Despite Loki preparing to resume filming after a six-month hiatus, fans should brace themselves for an extended wait to see the show. Only a month or so of production was done before Loki was shut down and its early 2020 start lined up with plans for a spring 2021 release. Now that the bulk of filming will take place through the end of 2020 and possibly into next year, Loki might not be ready to stream until much later in 2021 than was originally intended. Fortunately, the other Phase 4 MCU content releasing in the coming months should be enough to keep fans entertained until Loki does arrive on Disney+.
