Chris Hemsworth crashed a live weather report and ended up taking over the segment. Best known as Thor, the God of Thunder in the MCU, Hemsworth's journey as the Asgardian god is far from over. However, if things don't work for the character moving forward in the franchise, he might consider changing career paths as a weather anchor based on his recent Australian TV show appearance.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, countries all over the world have given variations of shelter-in-place mandates. Everyone is affected by the current situation, including Hollywood celebrities, since productions for movies and TV shows have been stagnant for months, only slowly restarting in the last couple of weeks. Hemsworth, for his part, has been in his home country in Australia, spending time with his family and, more recently, casually hijacking a live TV broadcast.
Shared by Australia's The Today Show is a clip from their weekend broadcast where Hemsworth crashed the weather report. As Lauren Phillips starts to deliver the predicted weather around the country, Hemsworth suddenly appears in the background. From there, the actor ended up finishing the segment. Meanwhile, back in the studio, hosts Rebecca Maddern and Richard Wilkins were at a loss for words while this panned out. Watch the clip below:
It's uncertain how this was arranged as the chances are the field team had an idea this was going to happen. What's clear is that The Today Show studio hosts weren't aware of this surprise. Phillips said that she's been in town for the past ten months, so she could have asked Hemsworth to do the bit, which the actor gamely agreed. Otherwise, it's also possible that they both just happened to be at the same place, at the same time. From there, Phillips and Hemsworth planned the gag.
While Chris Hemsworth could shift careers to become a weather reporter in Australia, it seems pretty unlikely he'll retire from making movies anytime soon. As he gears up to start filming Thor: Love & Thunder, the actor revealed that the upcoming Taika Waititi movie won't be his last hurrah in the MCU. This makes sense considering that Marvel Studios has finally cracked the correct approach to the God of Thunder — meaning there's still a lot of things they can do with the character. On top of that, since the franchise has just lost Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), the studio would be smart in keeping the remaining founding Avengers in the universe.
